WELCOME TO
PRESTIGE CAVAPOO

FULLY LICENCED CAVAPOO BREEDER WITH DURHAM COUNTY COUNCIL - DCC/ALA/098392

Located in County Durham in the North East of England

Our journey breeding dogs began in 1998, and for over 26 years successfully bred and showed champion pedigree dogs, With Over 100 Champion titles to date including multiple CRUFTS Best of Breed winners becoming one of the most successful breeders in the world! Throughout that time, developing a deep appreciation for responsible breeding, health, temperament, and the lifelong commitment that comes with raising exceptional companions.

While our background is rooted in pedigree showing and champion bloodlines, our Cavapoos represent something a little different. They combine decades of expertise, careful breeding practice, and a genuine love of dogs where health, temperament, and companionship always come first.

Every breeding decision is made with health and welfare as the highest priority. Our breeding dogs undergo comprehensive genetic testing for relevant inherited conditions, allowing us to make informed breeding choices and reduce the risk of known hereditary diseases.

A large proportion of our puppy families are first-time dog owners and one of the most rewarding aspects of breeding is supporting new owners as they begin life with their puppy. Over the years, I have guided countless families through the joys and challenges of puppy ownership, and ongoing support is something I am proud to offer long after a puppy leaves for its new home. Whether you are an experienced dog owner or welcoming your very first puppy, I am always happy to share advice and support whenever it is needed. Helping new owners feel confident and supported is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

If you are thinking of welcoming a puppy into your home please take some time to have a read of our website and make sure you visit the page "Are you ready for a puppy?" This page will give you a lot of information you may need.

Lots of Love Becky x

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Cavapoos Good for First-Time Dog Owners?

Absolutley! If your a first time dog owner "dont worry" most people that come to us are and we are on hand whenever you need us to help and reassure you throughout the whole process. Taking on a puppy is exciting but its also a little worrying as its such a big decision and we understand you have lots of questions and we are here every step of the way to help you as much as you need us to. Not only before you decide if a puppy is right for you but as long as you need us once you have your puppy. In our experience, Cavapoos can make wonderful companions for first-time dog owners. They are typically affectionate, intelligent, and eager to be part of family life. Like any dog, they require training, socialisation, and commitment, but their adaptable nature often makes them a popular choice for those new to dog ownership. Many of our puppy families are first-time owners, and we are always happy to provide guidance and support before and after your puppy joins your family.

What Generation of Cavapoo Is Best?

There is no single “best” generation of Cavapoo. Each generation has its own characteristics and can vary depending on the individual dogs involved. At Prestige Cavapoo, we choose to breed carefully selected F1b and F2 Cavapoos. This allows us to breed from health-tested Cavapoos whose temperament, health, and characteristics we know well. Rather than focusing solely on generation labels, we believe health testing, temperament, and responsible breeding practices are far more important.

Do you have a Breeders licence?

YES OF COURSE! We hold this with Durham County Council, our licence number is DCC/ALA/098392 Before we moved to Durham we also held a 5 Star licence with Sunderland and also hold a 5 star Pet sitting licence with Durham Council. So we have a great history of high standards with our care for our dogs.

Are Cavapoos Hypoallergenic?

No dog can be guaranteed to be completely hypoallergenic. Some Cavapoos may shed less than other breeds, particularly those with a curlier coat, but all dogs produce dander, which is often the main trigger for allergies. Individual reactions vary greatly from person to person. For families with allergy concerns, we always recommend spending time around dogs before making a decision whenever possible.

How Much Exercise Does a Cavapoo Need?

Cavapoos generally have moderate exercise requirements. Most are happy with a combination of daily walks, playtime, training activities, and family interaction. The amount of exercise needed can vary depending on age, health, and individual temperament. Puppies should have age-appropriate exercise, while adult dogs often enjoy a balance of physical activity and mental stimulation.

What Should I Ask a Breeder Before Buying a Puppy?

A responsible breeder should welcome your questions. Important things to ask include

What health testing has been carried out on the parents?

How are the puppies raised and socialised?

What support is available after collection?

Can I see information about the parents?

What food and routine are the puppies currently following?

What health checks will my puppy receive before leaving?

You should never feel rushed into making a decision.

Why Is Health Testing Important?

Health testing helps breeders make informed decisions and reduce the risk of passing on certain inherited conditions. At Prestige Cavapoo, our breeding dogs undergo comprehensive DNA testing for relevant inherited conditions before being considered for breeding. While no breeder can guarantee perfect health, responsible health testing is an important part of producing healthy puppies. (See Here for more info)

When Can Puppies Leave for Their New Homes?

Our puppies do not leave for their new homes until they are at least eight/nine weeks old. This important period allows them to continue developing alongside their mother and littermates while receiving valuable early socialisation and independance experiences.

Do You Offer Ongoing Support?

Absolutely Yes! I pride myself in this and is one of the most rewarding parts of breeding, supporting families throughout their dog’s life. Whether you have questions about feeding, training, toilet training, grooming, or general puppy development, we are always happy to help. Many of our owners stay in touch for years after taking their puppy home.

How Do I Know If I’m Ready for a Puppy?

A puppy should never be an impulse decision. Before bringing a puppy home, consider:

Your daily routine

Available time for training and companionship

Financial responsibilities

Long-term commitment

Future lifestyle changes,

We encourage all prospective owners to take time to ensure they are ready for the responsibility of dog ownership. (See more info Here)

What generation of Cavapoo do you breed?

Why We Choose to Breed F2 and F1b Cavapoos......

Having owned and bred dogs for many years, our focus is on health, temperament, and lifelong companionship. Rather than breeding first-generation (F1) Cavapoos, we choose to work with carefully breeding F2 and F1b Cavapoos. This allows us to continue breeding from dogs whose health, temperament, coat qualities, and overall characteristics we know well and have experienced first-hand within our own programme. All of our breeding dogs undergo comprehensive health testing for relevant inherited conditions, and only dogs with suitable health results are considered for breeding. We believe that responsible breeding is about much more than generation labels; it is about careful selection, health screening, and making thoughtful decisions for every generation. Another important part of our philosophy is that we genuinely love living with Cavapoos. We choose to own and breed dogs that we enjoy sharing our lives with every day, rather than keeping dogs solely for breeding purposes. By breeding from health-tested Cavapoos with wonderful temperaments, we are able to continue developing the qualities that make the breed such a valued family companion. Our goal is to produce healthy, well-socialised puppies with excellent temperaments, bred from parents that are cherished members of our family first and foremost.

Should I Consider Rescue Instead of Buying a Puppy?

Rescue is always worth considering. Many wonderful dogs are looking for loving homes through rescue organisations. For some families, adopting an older dog may be a better fit than raising a puppy. Our priority is always that dogs find the right homes, whether through a responsible breeder or a reputable rescue organisation.

Why Choose Prestige Cavapoo?

With over 26 years of breeding experience, veterinary nursing qualifications, we combine decades of canine knowledge with a genuine love of family dogs. Our dogs are cherished family members,  our breeding dogs are health tested, and our puppies are raised in our home with care, attention, and have key early socialisation. Most importantly, we believe our responsibility continues long after a puppy leaves us, which is why we provide ongoing support to every family who welcomes one of our puppies into their home. Alongside this, my attitude towards helping new owners with every aspect of owning a puppy goes above and beyond.

How do I express my interest in a puppy? What is the process?

Ive never been a fan of waiting lists as I dont think its fair for me to ask any potential home to wait for us to have a puppy available but once puppies are here we can move forward with those that have kept in touch as requested.  We will then discuss in more depth more about us and you as a potential new owner to one of our babies. If we are both happy to proceed after talking and completing an ownership questionnaire we will then take definite names of new homes and once we have received a non refundable deposit you will have secured your puppy. However due to being asked so frequently and for those people who wanted to book a puppy further in advance we have decided to open up to the idea of taking a small deposit to offer potential owners the security of reserving a puppy, its not so much a waiting list but a promise for a puppy from a particular litter in the future, this is not essential to us but if you feel you would like to please ask us more about it. Once you have reserved your puppy each week from birth we will then keep you updated with your puppy as he or she grows, videos with the rest of the litter and mum too, its so lovely to have this and watch them grow into the puppy you take home as they change so much over the weeks. We do ask you to read and sign a contract before you take one of our puppies and if you prefer before sending any deposit we can send this to you. I am always available for a chat on the phone about our babies if you want to get in touch! KEEPING IN TOUCH WITH US IS KEY!

Can we meet the parents when we collect our puppy?

Absolutely!! Although we ask people not to visit prior to collecting your puppy if you can help it. When the day comes to collect your baby, we will open up our home and lifestyle with our dogs to you. You will meet all of our dogs but especially the parents and you can see where and how they live on a daily basis.

How Important is it to socialise your puppy?

Its so important to know that a good breeder will give your puppy the best start in life which will absolutely help their mental development in the future. You have unto 16 weeks to teach your puppy as much as you can and socialise him/her as much as possible in a positive way. Remember half of this time is spent with the breeder so bare this in mind when you choose who you buy a puppy from. Your dog will almost certainly be a happier more stable adult if he/she has had a great start in life.

Do you advertise on Puppy sales websites?

Not normally no, so if you see an advert please check in with us first.

Ive emailed you and wondered if you have received it?

As a small family, we sometimes receive lots of enquiries at once, so replies may take a few days. We really appreciate your patience and will always respond as soon as possible x

Are your dogs Kennel club registered?

The Kennel club only register pedigree dogs, unless your taking part in sports/activities like fly ball etc. There is no facility available with the Kennel Club to register breeding crossbreeds.

What colour are your Puppies?

You will be able to see our females here on the website, they are predominately red and our stud dogs are too, so we expect the puppies to be a shade of red in most cases.

Do you use a Toy or Miniature Poodle in your breeding program?

We breed our girls to our Toy poodle which after some in depth research can see no reason why a miniature would favour a toy in any breeding program.
